Semi-Private Lessons for children and adolescents ages 5-17 are offered in a one-hour, once-a-week or once-every-other-week format, depending on the needs of the student, family, and instructor. Lesson times are offered Thursdays at my home studio and Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Main Street Arts Center of North Canton, in the after-school hours. Cost of a one-hour lesson is $25. Students DO NOT need to sign up for a specific number of lessons at one time, and lessons may begin whenever the student is ready to start and a suitable time slot is available. Special arrangements may be made for earlier times for home-schooled students and during the Summer months.
These lessons are a series of basic, foundation-type instruction sessions designed to give serious instruction specifically in the area of DRAWING. Lessons are designed for the age and abilities of each child. Students keep a special sketchbook for use in these lessons only. They are taught techniques, materials and vocabulary needed to build a firm base in drawing. With a positive, supportive atmosphere they gain awareness, learn how to observe and enjoy exploring the world of fine art. More advanced teenage students will be given an evaluation based on their previous work and started at a lesson level appropriate to their experience. Some may wish to focus on building a portfolio for use in applying to art school. Beginning supplies for the children's lessons 5-8 is $4.00; Beginning supplies for children's lessons 9-17 is $15.00.
Time slots for lessons are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon receipt of your registration form, you will receive a phone call informing you of available time slots. Depending on demand, it may be necessary for a potential student's name to be added to a waiting list. In this case you will be called as soon as an open time slot becomes available. If you have any questions, please call Cathie at 330/494-8110 or her cell 330/418-2107.
